I was born and raised in Northern Utah. I have lived in Davis County for the past 19 years, 14 years here in West Point. My family and I moved from Layton in 2007- the traffic and growth had become too much and we chose to move to West Point for a more rural, quieter way of life. We have raised 5 kids- the youngest being the only one at home- he’s a high school junior this fall. We have 5 beautiful grandchildren, three of which are nearby in Clinton.
Education: I have a bachelor degree from Weber State University in Political Science with a minor in History. Additionally I have a Secondary Teaching endorsement from WSU. I have a Master Degree in Education from University of Phoenix, endorsements from Utah State (Gifted and Talented) and Southern Utah University (Geography). I have knowledge in Robert’s Rules of Order and Parliamentary Procedure.
Political Experience: I have taught school in the Davis County School District for the past 28 years- teaching Geography, US History, Utah Studies, Civics, and Mock Trial. I have coached Debate and Mock Trial for my entire career- and have helped teens understand how to be good citizens. While teaching at Northridge High, I was the lead teacher in the Government and Law Academy. I helped students organize a meet the candidates night, helped conduct various register to vote events, advised student government. I helped students learn how to lobby the state legislature, required attendance at city council meetings, and advised Debate and Mock Trial teams. I have recommended various students to serve on local Youth Councils and local Youth Courts.
Community Service: I volunteered for about 5 years as a coordinator for foreign exchange students, and hosted 9 exchange students for a school year. I have been selected/elected as Precinct Chair, Vice Chair, County Delegate and State Delegate to Conventions while living here in West Point. I have served on various committees at the schools I have taught at, as well as the district level. I have served on the Community Council, Joint Staff, Executive Board, Utah Studies curriculum, Government and Law district committee, and textbook adoption committees
