General Curbside Recycling

What is General Recycling?

General recycling is a mandatory program for curbside collection of recyclable materials that allows West Point City to save natural resources, energy, and landfill space, reduce pollution, and protect our environment. Recyclable materials include paper, newspapers, magazines, plastics (1 & 2), cardboard, aluminum and tin cans, and other similar items.  See a more detailed list of acceptable and unacceptable items.

How much will it cost?

In order for the City to cover costs, a general recycling can will cost $4.75 per month.

The current costs for varying combinations of waste cans are as follows:

  • One black trash can:
$11.50 per month
  • Two black trash cans:
$21.50 per month
  • One black trash can and one blue recycling can:
$16.25 per month
  • One black trash can and one greenwaste can:
$17.50 per month
  • One black trash can, one blue recycling can, and one greenwaste can:
$22.25 per month

How will it work?

The recycling can will be picked up every other week on the same day as your regular trash day, but by a different truck.  All services will be provided by the City’s current hauler, EconoWaste.
